Roar on the Shore® Overview

Expected to draw more than 165,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country, Roar on the Shore® Bike Week has exploded on the national rally scene – experiencing unprecedented growth in its first 11 years – boasting no gate fee to enter, free headline concerts every night, free celebrity meet and greets, free stunt shows – in addition to 12 scenic rides (including a celebrity led parade of bikes) to showcase all that the Erie region has to offer!

This year, proceeds from the 2018 Roar on the Shore® Bike Week will benefit the Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center, Erie’s oldest nonprofit human service provider. The Center is a leader in the care and treatment of children with mental health, behavioral health and severe emotional challenges, many of whom are victims of trauma and abuse. Proceeds from Roar® 2018 will help cover the general construction costs of a new, 12-bed residence hall project for the Center’s 24/7 Residential Program located at its main campus on West 34th Street in Erie. The new residence hall will allow the Center to serve an additional 20 to 25 children each year who are struggling to overcome severe emotional, mental health, behavioral health and trauma-related challenges.

BRINGIN’ IN THE ROAR® PARADE: The parade is a true ROAR® biker tradition attracting more than 25,000 people who line the parade route each year to cheer on our celebrity grand marshal and the 5,000 motorcyclists who follow each year!

FREE LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: Tens of thousands of rally goers pack the streets and sidewalks to Rock the ROAR® with our top headline bands, as well as local and regional acts.

VENDOR ALLY: What’s a motorcycle rally without leather and pinstripes? We’ve got the best vendor selection spread out across two square blocks and beyond, offering a multitude of merchandise products and services.

RIDES, RUNS & RAFFLES: ROAR® offers (12) fantastic rides leaving from various destinations, including escorted rides like Bringin’ in the Roar® Bike Parade (led by our celebrity grand marshal), Thunder on the Isle, Beer for the Deer Legend Ride, as well as Roar to the Vineyards Poker Run, Roar to the Microbrews Dice Run, Covered Bridges of Ashtabula County, Roar to the Parks, and Hometown Taste & Tour (East or West routes).

MOTORCYCLE RAFFLE: Each year, Roar on the Shore® organizers raffle off one or more brand new motorcycles during the rally.

CELEBRITY MEET AND GREETS: A favorite of Roar® attendees, our guests have had the opportunity to meet our grand marshals and other celebrity guests.
